Tenchu: Stealth Assassins is an action-adventure stealth video game developed by Acquire for the PlayStation. It was released in Japan in February 1998, and in North America in August 1998. The game's story follows two ninjas, Rikimaru and Ayame, who have both been members of the Azuma Ninja Clan since childhood. The two ninjas serve the benevolent Lord Gohda and work for him as his secret spies to root out corruption and gather intelligence in his province. The game features 3D graphics and gameplay similar to the Metal Gear Solid series. The game was met with critical acclaim and commercial success, selling over 1.5 million copies worldwide.
