Mother, known as EarthBound Beginnings outside Japan, is a role-playing game (RPG) developed by Ape and Pax Softnica and published by Nintendo. Released for the Famicom in 1989, it's the first entry in the Mother series. The game is set in the late 20th-century United States and follows the young Ninten. It's modeled after the gameplay of the Dragon Quest series and is notable for its unique setting compared to its fantasy genre contemporaries.
