Midnight Resistance is a side-scrolling run and gun arcade game developed by Data East and released in 1989. The game is a sequel to Heavy Barrel, and shares some gameplay elements with it. The player controls a resistance fighter who must rescue his family from a tyrannical dictator. The game has nine stages, each with a boss at the end. The game features a unique rotary joystick that allows the player to aim and shoot in eight directions.
